re: #143 Bird in the Paw

Actually, it’s more than just a semantic difference. As you noted, the E-M spectrum is divided up into regions of descriptive, informative, and relevant bands. Encoding information in a light wave (we defined this as the IR to UV frequency, definitions, how do they work?) would be moronic because of the environment. You, know, can see it, so it would be sucking the signal up and making it kinda useless. Let’s encode info in the gamma wave frequency band and send it through the air and cook people.

It is not an ignorant gotcha wuestion, it relies on a basic understanding of that thing wingnuts don’t comprehend, science. Sigh.

I always wondered why we didn’t use visible light for transmission. It didn’t occur to me that the environment would scatter or reflect the signal. And anything higher energy would be biologically damaging, which is why radio waves come from the lower end of the spectrum. It all makes sense now.
