re: #152 Dr Lizardo

A student of mine had an anecdote; his company is a subsidiary of a German parent company. About 10 years ago, his German boss called; my student was at home, enjoying some fine spring weather and working on his motorcycle. His boss was curious as to why he was home, and not at the office, and when it was explained that May 8 is a state holiday here, he inquired as to which holiday it was.

My student was understandably reluctant to explain, though he did, of course. His German boss took it in stride.

Germany is not wanting for holidays: they just had May 1st, May 25 is a holiday in most of Germany (Ascension) as is June 5th (Pentecost) and then June 15 ( Corpus Christi, at least in the Catholic parts of Germany)

Always wondered why would they name a holiday after a Town in Texas.

And when is the Feast of St. Lubbock?
