The dump truck was going somewhere north of 50 mph when he hit; there was a line of cars behind a minivan waiting to turn left, and the truck driver wasn’t paying attention. I was the last guy in line, so I took the brunt of the impact. Despite the severe damage, everyone walked away except for a kid in the minivan who got thrown; he had road rash and a broken leg. I got some stitches and a barely visible scar.

Yikes.

Before I met my wife, she was working for Digital Equipment in Colorado Springs. She was involved in an accident so severe that she describes the remnants of her car “something they swept up with a broom and dustpan.”

It took several hours to pry her out of the car. There is now a stoplight at that corner.
