Basically. And now, Putin will try it elsewhere - anywhere there’s a significant ethnic Russian population that was left stranded at the end of the Cold War.

Putin now knows he can get away with it and the US won’t lift a finger. I’m also sure that President Xi Jinping has taken note of this as well. Arguably, he now has a window of opportunity to put the screws to Taiwan because it’s abundantly clear that Trump won’t do shit about it…..sure, he’ll bluster a bit on Twitter, but that’s all.
