Statham is 46. Probably a bit too old for Bond. Brosnan was 39 when he started in the role.

Statham is comes across wrong for Bond, he’s more ‘fist in the mouth’ than ‘smooth’. Of course that holds a certain appeal in action movies, though not in real life.
