Going to say it here:

There is no fix for this. The country cannot remain as a functional single nation when two two halves of the country have viewpoints utterly inimical to each other and have diametrically opposed constructions of basic facts and reality.

We can’t even debate with each other because we don’t even recognize the same facts as existing to create a basis for debate in the first place.

I honestly think a divorce of some sort is coming, and the question becomes of just how nasty it will be. California is not going to play along with a Dixified Red State federal govt that wants to have a national right to work law that suspends all state laws to the contrary…and California is the 8th largest economy in the world.

This is just silly. We have problems, but nothing remotely as bad as 1861.
