Download the file to a flash drive that you’re prepared to lose, then use a beater laptop that’s had all LAN connections (hardline, wifi, and bluetooth) walled off to open the file(s). Preferably after one of your IT guys has gone over it with a fine-toothed comb.

Reminds me of back in the 1990’s, somebody announced to the local Linux User Group that there was some malware designed for linux. A bunch of hobbyists reported that they had downloaded it and then dissected it, like some insect. In the end, they sounded unimpressed and even disappointed with it.

Apparently times have changed.
