I think there’s more to it than that. The Pope is changing the internal discussion too. A better treatment of Israel and the Jews is good, and changing the discussion within the Church to hold islam accountable to a better standard will have a lasting impact on the Church’s role in the WoT. Similar to JP II in the Cold War.
