re: #153 Shiplord Kirel

I’ve mentioned before how stupid HR managers are on the average. They are nothing however compared to the insect mentalities who work for them. I recently sent a fax to the HR department of a DFW metroplex business. I wasn’t sure it had gone through since they didn’t email me a confirmation. I called to confirm that it had gotten there. All I could get from the receptionist was that they didn’t take applications over the phone, which was not the subject of my call. It seems that DFW businesses provide this as a stock response to all HR calls, no matter what the subject might be, and they’re usually pretty rude about it.
“Hi, I’m across the street and I noticed that your building is on fire. I called the Fire Department but they’re going to take some time to get here.”
“We DON’T take applications over the phone and certainly not for the Fire Department.”
“That’s not why I called…”
“This is the HR department. Please call back and try to get the right office next time.”
“But your other offices aren’t in the same building.”
“We can provide credit and employment references, even though you don’t seem like a responsible person, but we cannot take an application over the phone.”
“Okay, who the fuck hired a moron like you to work there?”

They’ve been hiring people like that since almost forever. I remember back in the 1990s, in my mid-50s, when I was looking for work and had plenty of education and experience for any kind of clerical work a bank could offer, I was told by a young 20-something during a conversation that weirdly shifted somehow to life and work experiences that I needed to “sacrifice”.

Something she probably never had to do in her entire short life.
