We don’t know, but in 1960 it was JFK running on the bellicose nonexistent gap between the Soviets’ nuclear forces and ours, and Nixon and Kissinger did make diplomatic breakthroughs with the Soviets and China. I don’t think Nixon would’ve started a nuclear war.
