I think someone deserves credit for stepping up and trying to stop the bad guys with his gun. Cops do that sometimes too. Not every gunfight has all the police walking away healthy.

I don’t think anyone’s implying that the guy doesn’t deserve credit, but rather that it’s a shame he lost his life trying to be a “good guy with a gun”.

That phrase gets used all over the wingnutosphere like it’s some sort of magic mantra that will protect the good guys from harm. It’s like some kind of NRA marketing bullshit. The good guys don’t always win.
