You’d think even a guy who’s been in office as long as McCain has would know that the impeachment process is a two-step one, with a House vote to impeach and then a trial in the Senate. But he is right, there simply is no way Republicans could convince 22 Democrats to vote with them to convict, because that’s what it would take to do it.

They couldn’t convince the Dems to convict Clinton, and there’s even less to go on legally against Obama.

OTOH, impeachment has helped Clinton over the years. After his DNC speech in 2012, Bill could have run again and won 300 electoral votes without trying.
