I highly doubt the Vatican spin machine can keep up with damn tragedy. Tragedy for the victims that is.

The Vatican doesn’t have spin machine, what it’s got is a hundreds-years-old slow lumbering bureaucracy that takes forever to come to a conclusion about something, and then tends to reach the same conclusions that have been reached before, resulting in total inaction and in this case, IMO, lack of respect and concern for Church members and the victims of these crimes.

It needs a whack upside the head (and more), and I hope the publicity over these things serves as that whack.
