Ever wonder why most of the mutations that people hear about are deleterious? It’s really pretty simple:

1) Nobody will ever know about silent mutations, or mutations within noncoding regions, or neutral mutations.

2) Beneficial mutations would show up as the absence of problems. Nobody goes to the doctor because they DON’T have cancer, or when they’ve NOT gotten sick.
