I personally believe that the Conservative Party should simply privatise the Monarchy: British Royal plc. Let them earn their own keep by opening shopping centres and cutting ribbons. It would also help keep their behaviour in line (like my UK spelling? the auto-correct here doesn’t)

I shudder I when I see the word “privatise/privatize.” It’s a shitty way to palm public responsibility off to a private organization. The Royal Family is a “national treasure” in the UK, much as a museum or Stonehenge is. It needs to be a public institution.

That’s my tuppence on the matter.
