2nd random utterance: it’s unfathomable to me why states don’t have their records digitized and online by now. Massachusetts seems to be leading the pack here; most states’ offices are acting like they don’t even know there are things called “computers” which could make all of this much easier than doing everything by hand.

If you’re a corrupt/incompetent local government used to having your way with no scrutiny, why would you want more oversight and easily searchable records?
