That was the argument behind pursuing the damn thing in the first place. Some genius(es) at the Pentagon decided that an Air Force fighter could also pull triple duty as a Navy bomb truck and a Marine close-support fighter. Apparently nobody took them aside and reminded them of the last time such an error in judgment was made.

The Air Force doesn’t care. Its brass hates the A-10, first for not being a hyper-advanced fighter, and second for being an aircraft designed to ‘play second fiddle to the Army’.
