Takes a simple majority in the House for an impeachment, so with the House currently seated with a split 239-192 (Pompeo left to join Bannon/Trump admin, and Becerra left to become CA AG).

A simple majority would require… 216. Democrats would have to peel off a significant number of Republicans. I just don’t see it happening. Not this GOP. They’re far more disciplined than Democrats in this respect.

And impeachment itself doesn’t mean removal, so even if Democrats could peel off enough Republicans to get such a bill through, the odds are it would be a party-line vote in the Senate and the DNC would take it in the pants as the GOP did in ‘98. No, as funny as it may sound, it will take a bipartisan effort to toss Der Trumpenfuhrer out of office.
