Yeah true. I just wish I didn’t live in a state that has this guy as a viable candidate for any office. He’s scary. I wouldn’t want him on my school boar and the thought of him as governor of my state. Agh. It’s sad when you’re seeing George Allen as a voice of relative reason for conservatism within your state.

I don’t think Allen will ever live his “Macaca Moment” down, though. Sadly, if he had done the same today, it wouldn’t make a dime’s difference in the same campaign he ran.

Can you imagine that was only 7 yrs ago? It effectively ended Allen’s political career, but also showed how little vetting is done by the press and others (much of his racist and reactionary background was revealed during that period), and how people who hold those views, which now seem to be mainstream for some, have slipped through the cracks over the years, assuming office and changing the face of US politics.
