Potatoes have the same glycemic impact as white sugar.

Glycemic impact aside, the problem poor people have in this country with poor nutrition is NOT getting sufficient calories, it’s getting everything else. This is why we have malnourished, but overweight poor people, because calories are now so cheap.

This, BTW, is an argument that the Right makes - “America’s poor people aren’t REALLY poor! Look how fat they are!”, ignoring the effect of a diet with too many calories but not enough nutrition.
