re: #156 Bass Reeves

Dark,

That’s the problem with calling everything a war. The rhetoric coming from the right (not even extreme right) is that this is an existential conflict which we must win to secure the future of our grandchildren. We are non-stop bombing them in THEIR homes and training centers, and we call that war. This person is arguing semantics (as you are also known to do) that if we are in war, and have considered recruiting and training centers fair game, why is it terrorism for the enemy to do the same thing.

Maybe if the violence happy nuts in charge would slow down and consider solutions that aren’t so quick to involve violence, we would see less of it.

And his article was nowhere near ‘Pro-ISIS’ (or DAESH or whatever semantics you need to keep the moral outrage stoked). It was pointing out OUR moral hypocrisy in condemning our enemy for doing the exact same damn things we do ourselves, to include torture and killing of civilians.

And I say all that, as someone with multiple rotations to both Iraq and Afghanistan, currently serving on active duty.

Make it simpler—War is the highest, publicly-sanctioned, form of terrorism.
