This Presidential campaign is getting to be about as satisfying as mocking a special needs child.

I want to apologize now for wishing Trump onto the GOP. They may suck as a party, but they didn’t deserve this and they’re turning our country into a laughing stock…what should be a historical election is going to be a hysterical farce.

You have nothing to apologize for because you never had control over their choices. Warnings were issued. Lots of them.

They invited Trump in 4 years ago, remember? They could have stepped away from his Birtherism and his slick bullshit at that time. But the same people pulled the trigger on hyping Benghazi, so it’s not like this decision was an island in an otherwise sound Romney campaign strategy.

And prior and after to that 4 year-old decision they’ve made other decisions that facilitated the base, and the contentless rhetorical style, that Trump is channeling so effectively.

Furthermore, you shouldn’t apologize because the conflict isn’t over, and the GOP is in no terms “destroyed,” nor has it truly rejected Trump’s thinking such that there’s a schism. This can only barely be described as conflict over style and taste; the candidates that Trump beat said very similar things about policy. Even about the fucking wall.

At this moment, the GOP is trying to capture and train Trump, not defeat him. They’re trying to appease his base, not reject their rather obvious white supremacy and contempt for basic rights that define the US. They are not fighting, they are negotiating.

If you hired an arsonist and he accidentally burns your building as well…you still hired an arsonist.
