I’m getting the idea why so many people around here don’t want to own a computer at all.

My wife tells me the problem is “You’re using Windows and you need to use Linux.”

My understanding of Linux is you need even more innate knowledge to use that than Windows, because Linux documentation is even worse than Microsoft’s.

Of course, Microsoft offers no chat or telephone number or even address to send a letter to outlining your problems. You’re on your own.

Software is the only product I know of in the USA you can go to market with, knowing it does not work correctly, and you can still sell it without fear of the FTC or lawsuits: Software companies are actually protected from such by law, because the libertarians who own such companies spent a lot of money on lobbying getting those laws passed.

If that makes me a Luddite, well, so be it. My 1914 office typewriter works fine, and so do stamps and envelopes.
