I think they’re trying to point out that plastics and some other things are made from oil. Which is a different problem than the greenhouse gas problem from them.

What about bioplastics? Isn’t that a renewable (not necessarily carbon neutral) source of these products that can sooner (rather than later) replace fossil fuels?
