Maybe I don’t get it, but I always thought it was strange to pray and ask for certain things to happen.

I can pray for strength to deal with hardship; I can send a prayer of thanks for gifts received; but asking for particular things as if God is Santa just always seemed to me to be unseemly.

I always thought it insensitive when survivors of natural disaster on TV who would state that it was God who saved them. They would be standing right by people who had lost loved ones. Kind of like, God saved me, but your Mom died. What was her problem?
