The national divisiveness has been developing for a long time and IMHO it antedated the “teabaggers” and is much caused by the two party system.

In addition I did not think that Mr Obama could effectively govern the whole country after some of the derogatory slips he made about groups here in the USA during his campaign, and I think events are bearing this out. Remember that the tone is set by the guy at the top. It is on his watch that this is happening.

Given that the cult of opposition to the current President has been driven to apoplectic rage by absolutely everything he says or does, including playing basketball, watching his kids’ soccer game, and the logos of government departments, I think it’s pretty far-fetched to claim that the President is responsible for ‘setting the tone’.
