Report: Hacker Attacks on Financial Services Companies Tripled From Last Year

A new report from Florida-based security firm Prolexic says financial services companies were targeted in three times as many attacks in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the first quarter of 2011. “This quarter was characterized by extremely high volumes of malicious traffic directed at our financial services clients,” said Neal Quinn, Prolexic’s vice president of operations, said in a statement.

The bump in attacks on Wall Street firms may have something to do with, we’re going out on a limb here, the popularity of Occupy Wall Street with Anonymous and other hacktivists.
