I don’t understand what has to happen to a person growing up, that they become grown adults who obsess over other where other people put their penises in their spare time.

My suspicion is either Swanson’s own personal attraction to boys or men, or a childhood incident with another boy or man. That kind of gut-level revulsion has to come from some serious emotional trauma.
