It’s very unlikely that another 9/11-style attack could be pulled off, for example.

A huge reason for that, I’d say, is that passengers know better now - once upon a time, the conventional wisdom was to cooperate with hijackers, but no one’s following that “advice” anymore (see Bomber, Shoe, and Bomber, Underwear, both subdued with the help of flight crew and passengers)
