The point for those who need to feel powerful and special is to objectify another group of people. Since it is now illegal to have slaves or to treat any category of citizen as second class (you know, socialism), they’ve moved to non-citizens.

The idea that everyone is human, equal in the eyes of the law and in their G-d’s eyes, is not something they can accept.
