I had to go look up where Temple is, and I’m guessing, based on the notable alumni, that Hall and Oats met there.

I believe I’ve heard that Hall and Oates met in a freight elevator as they were fleeing a battle of the bands contest that turned into a riot. I’ll go look for backup…
