Well, I don’t know if this has been in the public news, but it’s probably not a secret (well, as of this post, not anymore), but I was speaking to Simon Pegg’s (the new Scotty in the movie) dad the other day, and Simon is already contracted for 5 more episodes of this recent Star Trek movie franchise.

So, the intent right now is to make at least 5 more installments using this cast.

Of course, anything such as a long run movie franchise is subject to future business considerations, so we’ll have to see what happens.

Just contrast the film- making technology from the original series (which we all thought was too cool) and what’s possible today.
Too bad Gene Roddenberry isn’t still around. Hope those who’ve picked up his torch remember keep true to his penchant for morality plays and anti- idiotarianism.
