Clarification for this. Stuff others have pointed out:

Doesn’t this instantly disprove Zimmerman’s story that he was checking a street sign and Martin attacked him from behind when he was walking back to his car? I mean…

I personally find it difficult to believe considering the entire gated community consists of three streets: Retreat View Circle, Twin Trees, and Long Oak Way.

For Zimmerman to have lived there as long as he did and be so lost in his own neighborhood that he had to climb out of his vehicle to walk up to a street sign in order to be able to read it…come on.

The first part is what Zimmerman’s Dad said happened. The next is an evaluation of it:

“He called the non-emergency number first, and they asked him where he was. Because he was at the rear of the townhouses and there was no street sign,” Zimmerman said.

Even though a dispatcher told Zimmerman not to follow Martin, his father says he continued walking to locate an address to give to police.

“He lost sight of the individual, he continued to walk down the same sidewalk to the next street so he could get an address for the police. He went to the next street, realized where he was, and was walking to his vehicle,” Zimmerman said.

… which still doesn’t add up with the map of where Martin was shot, nor does it pass as an explanation for why he was out of the car. What “next street” is Daddy Zimmerman talking about? Did Zimmerman walk perpendicular to Martin’s route, over to Retreat View Circle? It looks like Martin would have been walking parallel to Twin Trees and subsequently would have exited onto the southern curve of Twin Trees. This position of the body is crucial because it’s nowhere near where the walkway meets any other street.

E: Stole this map from a website that’s trying to prove Martin doubled back. I don’t think it proves any such thing, but it gives you a good idea of where the key places were. I guess they really are claiming that Zimmerman walked perpendicular to Martin’s route.

In summary, I think Zimmerman was exploiting the SYG law to hunt down an African American Teenager, and get away with it.
