re: #140 Justanotherhuman

I just got off the phone with Virgin Mobile. Do not ever buy a phone from them. My grandson’s phone that cost $225 from them stopped working after 17 days (he bought it on 2/21/14). On March 10, we called them to report the phone and were told they’d send a shipping envelope to return the phone for a refund (he had already bought another phone).

We never got it. Now, we’re being told that a refund would have only been available after 14 days, but they would give him a “replacement”. The phone was 17 days old—and has a 1 yr guarantee. They also refused to send us a printed copy of the guarantee (“it’s on our website”).

Lie after lie. This is why people sue.

I have to say that two benefits of living in China is the excellent cellphone coverage and the ability to buy a phone independent of any service contract. The cell providers are of course limited in number, by law, but their options are quite good and not too costly. China Mobile is in the process of rolling out 4G service in my neck of the woods, and I may see if it’s worth switching.

WiFi hot spots, on the other hand, are still limited. Thailand has way better WiFi coverage.
