Lets use an easy round number

Lets say there are 100 cares per week sold in the US

IF GM had gone under Ford et al would have gotten a bigger share of the 100

They would have needed more supplies

Those same suppliers would have shifted their output from GM parts to Ford parts,,, OR ,, their competitor that supplies Ford with parts would have had to expand
