re: #159 Sergey Romanov

I myself also try to qualify statements about innocence. To provide a particular example to illustrate my hesitance: Demjanjuk. It just doesn’t sit right with me to say “the court condemned Demjanjuk, an innocent man, to death”. Because “Demjanjuk” and “innocent man” simply do not mix. He wasn’t Ivan the Terrible of Treblinka, but he was a Wachmann in Sobibor. So it’s “a man innocent of the particular crimes he has been accused of”.

Our Alabama ex-governor is in prison for one of the crimes he probably didn’t commit.
