Certainly centuries back it was true that women were badly treated, divorced women stigmatized etc. And though all sexual behavior outside marriage was disapproved of, men were significantly less punished than women.

But I’m not sure this describes the world of American conservative Christians in 2013.

Also I was talking about Christianity, not about, say, American society.

Yes, it’s true that, say, Rush Limbaugh can go to some south American country and go whoring without any consequence because he’s forgiven as long as his advertized values are moralistic. But is there any sign that the the rules would be different now for a female Rush Limbaugh? Perhaps an Ann Coulter could be as dirty as a whoring, drug taking Limbaugh and that be overlooked as long as she projects hatred toward those who PUBLICLY claim the right to act that way.

Our rules are not our grandparents rules.

Women who want birth control are slut shamed.
Women aren’t smart enough to know their own bodies, so need to be “instructed” by the government so they can truly “understand” what is happening because they are pregnant because they are apparently incapable of figuring it out for themselves.

Yep…that is indeed the American conservative Christians of 2013.
