I only tell that joke because I heard it from a man who was taking care of his wife with it. Never put her in a home. Took excellent care of her until she died. He cherished every moment that he could take care of her.

I thought it was both fucked up and beautiful.

Honestly. The pictures of him with her, he was smiling like they were still newlyweds…

There reaches a point with Alzheimer’s where taking care of the person at home has a detrimental effect on the health of the caretaker. I stand in awe of anyone who is able to do it.
