I think one reason Gov. Jan Brewer of AZ backed away from the Birther position is that she actually met Obama. She says it’s because she believes the governor of Hawaii.

Jan got spooked by the Gifford’s shooting. She’ll never admit it publicly, but I think she decided to tone it down a notch. Arizona was getting too crazy even for her.
