People don’t understand what Kennedy did. In this last year or so, I’ve heard both Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum sadly shake their heads over dumb ol’ liberal Kennedy saying that his personal beliefs weren’t part of his candidacy. In Santorum’s case, it’s especially moronic.

I think it’s dumb for anyone really. It really amazes me that we have people like Santorum and Palin out there who fail to see that it’s a wonderful thing that we have church and state separated. For all the descendants this country has of religious minorities that came here because of persecution it baffles me. It is interesting that in the past that religious people were some of the most ardent champions of separation of church and state but their descendants like Santorum/Palin condemn it.
