I never thought Christie would go too far in a GOP primary because I thought a shit talker with a New Jersey accent wouldn’t float the base’s boat. Thought the same with Trump. If Biden wins this, it’s going to be interesting to see who becomes the face of their party. Will Trump be branded a loser by the faithful or a martyr. I think that’s the key to understanding the right post Trump.

The bolded was my take as well. The rest of the country fucking hates us. I think Christie was hoping to thread the needle of “Yeah, I’m an East Coast loud mouth, but I’ll turn DC upside down just like I did Trenton.”

Problem was Trump came in and turned that up to 11. Plus, Christie wasn’t racist enough for the Republican Party.
