“It’s as if the Church, by reinstating him, has given him a “license” to continue to espouse the very things that caused his excommunication to begin with.”

He wasn’t excommunicated for his Holocaust denial. He was excommunicated for joining a schismatic faction originally part of the Church. Had he been spewing Holocaust denial in his capacity as a Catholic priest, that would have been cause for excommunication. He’s no longer a functioning priest, was never a Bishop (acding to the RC Church) .. just an ordinary slob (with widespread appeal to European Jew haters) being, in my opinion, neutralized by his inclusion back in the fold, so to speak.
