One incident no matter how horrible does not a good policy foundation make. Certainly BP needs to be held accountable for the damage and anything they could have done to prevent it.

This is tragic all over and it doesn’t need to be politicized.

Thanks to the Exxon Valdez and GHWB, BP is responsible…for up to 75 million dollars in damages. 75 million. For a company with a 6 billion dollar quarterly profit. That’s 1.25% of their profit margin…for a quarter.

As far as the politicization of this, the damages are going to be in the tens of billions and last for decades…it will be a political football for a generation.
