meh. I use that ‘sticky tasteless white rice’ a lot. It’s a great ‘no-fail’ sushi rice, for example, because of that sticky property.

The thing for me is to treat white rice the same way I treat grits or polenta or tofu: it’s a base, and its only use alone should be for the ill and weak-stomached.
