Poppycock. The total mass of the Earth remains the same, and redistributing water is not going to affect the rotational inertia to any measurable degree.

The Moon has a greater effect on the Earth’s rotation. At some point in the far, far future, Earth will be in tidal lock with the Moon, so one side of the Earth will always face the moon, the other side will be SOL for romantic moonlit walks. Plus, the Moon will be further away, and will appear smaller.

But by that time, the Sun will have entered red giant phase, and we’ll all be toast anyway.

Bummer, man.

Well, look the bright side, when the sun goes red giant, it’ll give some future civilization on hell of a show.
