I agree. It comes up often in Texas with all the death penalty politics. We average killing someone every other week for most of the last several years, and due process is pretty quick - typically between several months and a few years, almost never 20 like the hippie states. I’m 36, so life in prison for me is ~40 years. If it was I who was convicted (let’s say falsely just for giggles) of a major crime, I’d choose death without hesitation. There’s hope of an overturned conviction in many many years -for someone who can’t afford good attorneys - just as there is hope of winning the lotto, imho. It’s a fantasy for professors and college kids to talk about in class, not so much in the real world.
