Your hostility to the term is strange, since it is certainly not an anti-Semitic term and in common usage is used to unite Jews and Christians rather than to divide them.

It’s modern usage, as I’ve made very clear, includes being used by culture war types to stake a false claim to a Jewish tradition that they have neither respected or included. It is used by some very conservative Jews whose politics lie deep on that side, but, as I said, I agree with SFZ about it in general.
It definitely did originate as a conscious attempt at inclusiveness and helping Jews be seen as good Americans, but that was a long time ago. It is not used that way anymore.
