I saw that. I guess I wasn’t entirely surprised. I still think our scientific understanding of the world is in its infantsy, so it doesn’t surprise me to find that there is something major that we’ve missed in pretty much every field of science. That said, the structure of DNA has been such an area of interest for so many that I’m surprised something as basic as this seems to be hadn’t been found. I wonder how this will effect the Human Genome project?

I’m at least mildly surprised. It’s like, if someone discovered bits in my computer aren’t necessarily 0 or 1, but sometimes they are 3.14159? We (that is, I) rather liked the program = DNA analogy, though I suppose we had lots of hints it was never going to be quite that easy.

Time will tell, if it holds up at all, just how important it may be.
