You’re equating TP and SEIU. Why? Because Beck and Limbaugh refer to “SEIU thugs” on a regular basis? One is a union of working class folks, most of whom just want better wages. Hardly the explicitly political, nativist, populist mess that is the Tea Parties.

I’d believe that the TP cared about small govt if they’d been more than a gleam in Ron Paul’s eye before Obama’s election. But they barely existed before Obama took office. And then they took off…with a self-contradicting message of lower taxes and balanced budgets with no spending cuts to entitlements. Their real anger is over being out of power for the first time since 1992. They seem to have no substantive disagreement on anything with the Palin-Demint-Bachmann wing of the GOP.

As for the racism in the TP, no one has been seriously suggesting that they are ALL racists, not the NAACP or anyone else of any stature. But the racist elements—Mark Williams, Dale Robertson, Tom Tancredo, et al.—are right there in plain sight, and the TP leadership has done little til now to admonish them.
