Word has reached me that an arrogant fundy grifter, bigot, and hypocrite I know died of a heart attack overnight. He spent most of his life peddling scams of one kind or another, praising the Lord in public, abusing and stealing from working people on the job, and drinking and cheating on his wife in private.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, finding that you have outlived another old enemy is one of the few genuine and free pleasures of life. They seem to be dying like flies these days, and good riddance. I guess character does show and a lifetime of deception, cruelty, and arrogance will take its toll. Since I am in the best health and physical condition of my life relative to my age group, I probably have a lot to look forward to.

Btw, he who dies with the most toys IS STILL DEAD (and probably bankrupt).
